Overview
Change efforts within public sector organizations as well as initiatives
that require collaboration among several public sector organizations
are each complicated by the fact that they involve multiple stakeholders.
To make these efforts successful, it is critical to find common
ground among the stakeholders and to create a process that facilitates
buy-in from people representing functions or organizations with
different interests. It is not unusual for some of the stakeholders
in these situations to have had antagonistic stances toward one
another prior to engaging in the current shared initiative.
Praxis'
consultants have worked within individual public sector organizations
that are undergoing a change. They have also had experience designing
and facilitating initiatives that involve multiple stakeholders.
Praxis staff use the following principles to guide their work
with public sector change efforts:
- Understanding of the history and relationships
among the stakeholders involved
- Respect for each stake-holder's interests
- Development of a process to define common
ground and mutual goals among stakeholders
- Development of participatory processes for
change that facilitate buy-in and commitment
- Use of large scale technology, where appropriate,
to have all stakeholders working together to achieve common
goals
Emphasis on defining goals, strategies, time frames, and measures
of success that carry a process to successful conclusion |
