  • Define the various roles played by directors inside and outside the boardroom and explain the different responsibilities and duties attendant to each role
  • Understand the need for directors to be clear about the "hat" they are wearing in the boardroom and identify what attitudes and actions would constitute a confusion of roles.
  • Describe the potential negative outcomes when directors fail to align their decisions and activities in the boardroom to their duties and responsibilities as fiduciaries.

  • Understand how employees construct meaning around employee ownership and describe how those meanings connect to specific behavioral expectations for yourself and others in the organization.
  • Identify leadership practices that most powerfully shape how employees make meaning of ownership, including aligning and communicating leadership's vision, creating opportunities for employees to discuss ownership, sharing information, and fostering employee contributions to business improvement.
  • Assess the alignment between the meaning of employee ownership for leaders and for employees and identify at least two actions to strengthen that alignment within your own organization.
